Dear Community,
You and your family are cordially invited to our ASFG Drama Fall Play, Lookingglass Alice: a spectacular circus-infused adventure through Wonderland, developed by Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago in 2008, in association with The Actors Gymnasium.
The story is inspired by the writings of Lewis Carroll, with the iconic characters from Alice in Wonderland we all know. However, it also zooms out to examine the life and imagination of the author, and the friendship he had with young Alice Liddell, who was the inspiration for his stories. In many ways, the production connects the ephemeral nature of life, the theatre, and art, reminding us that “echoes fade,” and nothing is permanent, while encouraging us to embrace the madness and wonder that is being alive.
Our ASFG Drama students in Elementary through High School have been training in the circus arts for this production, acquiring skills such as Aerial Telas and Hoop, Stilt Walking, and Trampoline Acrobatics, under the guidance of some of Guadalajara’s finest circus artists: Ivan Eterovic, Robbie Herrera, and Memo Mendez, in collaboration with director Rebecca Schaffer.
LOOKINGGLASS ALICE is a show appropriate for all ages. Tickets are for sale in section offices.
