Influenza Vaccination Campaign

Dear ASFG Community,

On Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., ASFG is looking to host an on-campus Influenza Vaccination Campaign for the school community with IMSS. Confirmation from IMSS is still pending. Parents and students can be vaccinated, as well as their family members.  Please read the following information for specific instructions on how to sign-up for the vaccine and where to go to receive it.

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Middle and high school students can be vaccinated at the school's nurses office, located at the lower school cafeteria, during their recess time.  To receive the vaccine, middle and high school students under the age of 18 must have parent/guardian consent. If you would like your child to be vaccinated, please fill out this form: Authorization for students and instruct your child to go get vaccinated during their recess time on Thursday or Friday.  The school will not be responsible for sending students to get vaccinated.

EARLY CHILDHOOD AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Early childhood and elementary school students can be vaccinated at the school's nurses office, located at the lower school cafeteria, if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Early childhood students can be vaccinated from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and should be taken home after being vaccinated.  Please avoid taking your child out of class to be vaccinated.

Elementary school students can be vaccinated during their recess time.  If you would like to take your child to be vaccinated, please verify with the elementary school office your child's recess time so you can be on campus at that time.  Please avoid taking your child out of class to be vaccinated.

PARENTS AND OTHER ADULTS

There will be a vaccination station set up in the upper school parking lot for parents and other adults.  To register for the vaccine, please use this form to select a date and time: Calendly for ASFG Community.   If you would like to register more than one person, it is very important that you submit a date and time for each person.  To enter the parking lot, use Door 5 located on Filadelfia street.   Please make sure you make an appointment before you arrive at Door 5.

Influenza vaccination is particularly important to protect vulnerable populations and reduce the burden of respiratory illnesses during circulation of SARS-CoV-2. The influenza vaccine can be administered simultaneously with or any time before or after administration of the COVID-19 vaccines. The name of the vaccine provided will be Mexinvac by Sanofi (tetravalente type A & B).

The following is a list of reminders regarding the influenza vaccine:

  • You should not be vaccinated if you have an egg allergy or had an allergic reaction to a previous dose of the influenza vaccine.

  • You should not be vaccinated if you have a fever greater than or equal to 38.5ºC.

  • Children from 5 to 8 years of age who have not received two doses of the vaccine receive doses with an interval of one month between each dose, and then once a year.

  • Children over 9 years of age and up to 18 years of age receive one dose annually, whether or not they have received the vaccine before.

  • Infants under 6 months of age should not be vaccinated.

This campaign has been organized by Mr. Luis Alberto Altamirano Ramirez, Head of the Preventive Medicine and Training Department at the local IMSS Clinic #2, and the service is free of charge.
